The Chase National Bank, New York, received the following telegram, dated 13th March, from the Acting Secretary of State, Washington:-

"Department has received telegram from *American Embassy at Chungking transmitting "information received indirectly from Donald "L.Ballantine at Hongkong that the members "of the Staff of the Chase Bank at Hong kong "are allowed to go to their places of business "during the day are living in Chinese Hotels "and receiving Chinese food".
